Locally dense fog, focused throughout the valleys of South- Central and Southwestern PA will dissipate by 9 AM today. Afterward, a ridge of surface high pressure extending from near Ottawa, Ontario south into eastern Pennsylvania will bring dry weather and light wind today. Abundant late morning sunshine will transition into a mostly cloudy sky later this afternoon (west) and this evening (across the Susquehanna Valley and points east. Clouds will thicken up tonight with a several hour period of steady light to moderate rain overspread the state from west east during the early to mid morning hours ahead of a warm front. The front will lift into Central PA Sunday afternoon, before being followed closely by scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening as a cold front pushes through. Rainfall amounts Sunday will vary from around one-half of an inch across the northern Tier Counties of PA to between 1 and 2 inches across the Southern Half of the state. Clouds and lingering showers Sunday night and Monday will transition to mostly sunny skies in the afternoon.
