The cloudy and drizzly weather of the past 24 hours will end today as the wind turns to come out of the south. Expect the sun to break through later this morning or afternoon in most places. A couple of waves of showers and thunderstorms will move through the northwestern mountains (ANF) today. One wave will be this morning and the second in the mid to late afternoon and early evening. Some of the storms this afternoon will be capable of making wind damage, mainly along and west of Route 219. As the showers and storms move to the east and south, they will diminish in coverage and intensity. A warm front will lift north across the state Saturday. More showers and thunderstorms are expected Saturday and Saturday night. A cold front will arrive from the west Sunday drop the temperatures off well below normals for the first half of the new week.
