Tenney # 1 is a large walk-in enclosure used to test equipment under simulated environmental conditions. The chamber is cooled by a two-stage refrigeration system and heated by a set of electric resistance heaters. A set of platinum resistance thermometers and a Vaisala humidity sensor measure the chamber’s temperature and humidity. An internal circulation fan moves air over the heating and cooling coils to ensure an even temperature distribution.
This chamber is controlled by a VersaTenn V microprocessor control system that incorporates a proportional–integral–derivative (PID) temperature and humidity control system. The system is completely automatic. An internal log function keeps a continuous record of the chamber’s temperature and humidity. The VersaTenn V allows the user to preprogram temperature/humidity profiles.
Additional capabilities of this equipment include the ability to perform liquid, freezing, and precipitation tests. |
