Heavy Rain From the Central Plains to the Mid-Atlantic; Heat Wave Begins This Weekend

Strong to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain will impact portions of the central Plains into the Upper Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic through the weekend. A stretch of unusually hot and humid weather is expected across portions of the central U.S. and the Southeast beginning this weekend and continuing through next week. With the attention given to the number of 100 degree days this year, we have compiled a list that includes both automated sites as well as cooperative observation data provided by NWS volunteers.  The official (and automated) sites of San Angelo, Abilene and Junction have complete records while some of the cooperative records contain sporadic missing data.  The missing data may or may not have impacted the numer of 100 degree days at these coop sites.
