NOVEMBER 2010 WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS...

A RATHER DRY PATTERN PREVAILED DURING NOVEMBER...AS THE REGIONAL
WEATHER WAS INFLUENCED BY A NUMBER OF HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEMS.

A FEW UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES AND SEVERAL COLD FRONTS MOVED
ACROSS THE REGION...BUT WITH A LACK OF MOISTURE...THESE
SYSTEMS WERE PREDOMINANTLY DRY FOR WEST CENTRAL TEXAS.

THE PRECIPITATION EVENTS WERE LIGHT...AND WERE CONFINED TO A
FEW DAYS IN THE EARLY AND MIDDLE PARTS OF THE MONTH. AN UPPER
LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVED ACROSS CENTRAL AND INTO SOUTHEASTERN
TEXAS ON THE 2ND AND 3RD. WITH SOME MOISTURE WRAPPING AROUND
THIS SYSTEM...LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS OCCURRED IN PARTS OF FAR EASTERN
AND SOUTHEASTERN SECTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS. WITH A WEAK
FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE ENTERING
NORTHWESTERN TEXAS...LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS OCCURRED ACROSS AREAS OF
WEST CENTRAL TEXAS ON THE 12TH. THE BEST COVERAGE WAS ACROSS THE
BIG COUNTRY. A FEW LOCATIONS IN COLEMAN COUNTY RECEIVED OVER ONE
HALF INCH. ACROSS THE REST OF THE REGION THE AMOUNTS VARIED UNDER
ONE HALF INCH.

DRY AIRMASSES OCCUPIED THE REGION DURING MUCH OF THE MONTH. ON A
FEW DAYS...LARGE TEMPERATURE SWINGS OCCURRED BETWEEN THE DAYTIME
HIGH TEMPERATURES AND NIGHTTIME LOWS (40 DEGREES OR MORE AT SOME
LOCATIONS).

THE WARMEST PERIOD OCCURRED FROM THE 20TH TO 24TH...WHEN
TEMPERATURES CLIMBED INTO THE 80S FOR HIGHS ACROSS MOST OF
THE AREA. THESE HIGHS WERE WITHIN A FEW DEGREES OF THE RECORD
HIGHS ON THE 21ST AND 22ND. IN ADDITION...RECORD WARM MINIMUM
TEMPERATURES WERE SET AT ABILENE AND SAN ANGELO ON THE 21ST
AND 24TH. THESE INCLUDED 61 FOR THE MINIMUM TEMPERATURE AT
ABILENE AND 62 AT SAN ANGELO ON THE 21ST...AND 65 DEGREES AT
ABILENE AND 61 AT SAN ANGELO ON THE 24TH.

FOLLOWING A STRONG COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE ON THE 25TH (THANKSGIVING
DAY)...MUCH COLDER AIR INVADED THE REGION AND WAS ACCOMPANIED
BY GUSTY NORTH WINDS. WITH CLOUD COVER BEHIND THE FRONT...
TEMPERATURES ONLY RECOVERED INTO THE 40S AT ABILENE AND SAN
ANGELO. FARTHER TO THE SOUTH...TEMPERATURES FELL INTO THE 40S
AFTER THE FRONTAL PASSAGE.

A HARD FREEZE AREAWIDE OCCURRED ON THE 26TH AND 27TH...AS A
COLD HIGH PRESSURE SYSTEM SETTLED ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS.
EARLY MORNING LOW TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 20 TO 25 DEGREE
RANGE ON THE 26TH. ON THE 27TH...SEVERAL LOCATIONS ACROSS THE
AREA SOUTHEAST OF A LINE FROM BIG LAKE TO SAN ANGELO TO CROSS
PLAINS RECORDED LOWS IN THE TEENS. A NEW RECORD LOW OF 19
DEGREES WAS SET AT SAN ANGELO ON THE 27TH.

WINDY CONDITIONS OCCURRED ON THE 28TH AND 29TH. SOUTH WINDS
