...TEMPERATURES AVERAGED ABOVE NORMAL ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS
IN NOVEMBER...

TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR NOVEMBER RANGED FROM NEAR NORMAL TO
BELOW NORMAL ACROSS WEST CENTRAL TEXAS. THE GREATEST PRECIPITATION
AMOUNTS FOR THE MONTH (2 TO 3 INCHES) OCCURRED ACROSS PARTS OF
THE HEARTLAND...NORTHWEST HILL COUNTRY AND SOUTHERN SUTTON
COUNTY. THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION (LESS THAN ONE HALF INCH)
OCCURRED AT SCATTERED LOCATIONS TO THE SOUTH OF SAN ANGELO...AND
ACROSS THE FAR NORTHERN BIG COUNTRY.

AT ABILENE REGIONAL AIRPORT...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR NOVEMBER
WAS 56.8 DEGREES. THIS WAS 3.1 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL AVERAGE
TEMPERATURE OF 53.7 DEGREES. TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR ABILENE IN
NOVEMBER WAS 1.03 INCHES. THIS WAS 0.27 INCHES BELOW THE MONTHLY
NORMAL OF 1.30 INCHES. ABILENE RECORDED 6.6 INCHES OF SNOWFALL
IN NOVEMBER. THIS MARKS THE 3RD HIGHEST SNOWFALL TOTAL ON RECORD
FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER AT ABILENE.

AT SAN ANGELO REGIONAL AIRPORT...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR
NOVEMBER WAS 57.7 DEGREES. THIS WAS 3.7 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL
AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 54.0 DEGREES. TOTAL PRECIPITATION FOR SAN
ANGELO IN NOVEMBER WAS 0.89 INCHES. THIS WAS 0.21 INCHES
BELOW THE MONTHLY NORMAL OF 1.10 INCHES. A TRACE OF SNOW WAS
RECORDED IN SAN ANGELO IN NOVEMBER.


NOVEMBER 2007 WEATHER HIGHLIGHTS...

DURING THE FIRST THREE WEEKS OF NOVEMBER...A DRY AND WARMER THAN
NORMAL PATTERN PREVAILED. WITH THE INFLUENCE OF A HIGH PRESSURE
SYSTEM ALOFT...TEMPERATURES WERE WELL ABOVE NORMAL FROM THE 5TH TO
THE 14TH. ON THE 5TH...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES OF 90 DEGREES AT
ABILENE AND 91 AT SAN ANGELO WERE SET. FOR BOTH LOCATIONS...THESE
HIGH TEMPERATURES WERE JUST 2 DEGREES BELOW THE RECORD HIGHS FOR
THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER. A LARGE GRASSFIRE OCCURRED ABOUT 25
NORTHWEST OF SAN ANGELO ON THE LATE AFTERNOON OF THE 5TH...AS A
COLD FRONT DROPPED SOUTH ACROSS THE REGION. WITH THE GUSTY NORTH
WINDS BEHIND THE FRONT...THE GRASSFIRE SPREAD SOUTH TO HIGHWAY 87
AND NECESSITATED ITS CLOSURE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR.

ABILENE RECORDED 6.6 INCHES OF SNOW IN NOVEMBER. THIS MARKS
THE 3RD HIGHEST NOVEMBER SNOWFALL TOTAL ON RECORD FOR ABILENE.

A WEAK UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE BROUGHT A FEW LIGHT RAINSHOWERS TO
SOUTHEASTERN SECTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS ON THE 11TH. RAINFALL
AMOUNTS WERE GENERALLY LESS THAN ONE TENTH OF AN INCH.

WITH A CHANGE IN THE PATTERN...A MUCH COLDER AIRMASS INVADED THE
REGION FOLLOWING A STRONG COLD FRONTAL PASSAGE ON THE 21ST. THE
FIRST FREEZE OF THE AUTUMN SEASON OCCURRED ON THE 22ND (EARLY
THANKSGIVING MORNING) ACROSS THE AREA NORTH OF AN OZONA TO
BROWNWOOD LINE...WHEN LOW TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER
30S WERE RECORDED.

THE COLD AIRMASS REMAINED OVER WEST CENTRAL TEXAS INTO THE
THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND. WITH CLOUDY SKIES FROM THE 22ND
THROUGH 25TH...DAILY HIGH TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM THE UPPER 30S
TO MID 40S.

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE MOVED RAPIDLY EAST INTO THE REGION FROM
NEW MEXICO ON THANKSGIVING DAY (22ND) AND BROUGHT SNOW TO THE BIG
COUNTRY. A BAND OF SNOWFALL IN THE 2 TO 4 INCH RANGE OCCURRED
ACROSS MUCH OF THE BIG COUNTRY. ABILENE REPORTED 3.1 INCHES OF
SNOW. AMOUNTS OF 4 TO 6 INCHES WERE REPORTED IN NOLAN COUNTY.
TEMPERATURES REMAINED JUST BELOW FREEZING ACROSS THE BIG COUNTRY...
AND THE SNOWFALL CREATED HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS. A NUMBER OF
TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS WERE REPORTED.

A SECOND STORM SYSTEM MOVED NORTHEAST FROM NORTHERN MEXICO INTO
WEST CENTRAL TEXAS ON THE 25TH. THIS SYSTEM BROUGHT WIDESPREAD
PRECIPITATION (RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW). RAIN OCCURRED ACROSS THE
REGION ON THE 24TH INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF THE 25TH. FOR
THE BIG COUNTRY AND CONCHO VALLEY...AS THIS STORM SYSTEM ENTERED
THE AREA AND WAS ACCOMPANIED BY COLDER AIR ALOFT...THE RAIN MIXED
WITH SLEET AND SNOW BEFORE BECOMING ALL SNOW ON THE 25TH. WITH THE
EXCEPTION OF CROCKETT COUNTY...THE PRECIPITATION REMAINED AS RAIN
ACROSS THE EASTERN AND SOUTHERN PARTS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS.

SNOWFALL ACCUMULATED ACROSS THE BIG COUNTRY AND NORTHWESTERN
CONCHO VALLEY ON THE 25TH. SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 2 TO 4 INCHES
OCCURRED ACROSS SOUTHERN THROCKMORTON AND SOUTHERN HASKELL
COUNTIES...AND ACROSS MUCH OF JONES AND TAYLOR COUNTIES. ABILENE
RECORDED 3.5 INCHES OF SNOW. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL (IN THE 4 TO 7
INCH RANGE) AFFECTED FISHER AND NOLAN COUNTIES.

TOTAL LIQUID PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS (FROM THE 22ND THROUGH 25TH)
WERE IN THE 1.5 TO 2.5 INCH RANGE ACROSS SOUTHEAST AND SOUTHERN
SECTIONS OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS. ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF THE REGION
THE AMOUNTS RANGED FROM ONE HALF TO ONE INCH. THIS WAS A MUCH
NEEDED PRECIPITATION EVENT AS THE AREA HAD NOT RECEIVED MEASURABLE
PRECIPITATION SINCE OCTOBER 22ND.

THE WEATHER PATTERN WAS MORE TRANQUIL DURING THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS
OF THE MONTH WITH DRY AND WARMER CONDITIONS.
