THE RATHER ACTIVE WEATHER CONTINUED THROUGH THE FIRST TWO
WEEKS OF THE MONTH...DUE TO THE INFLUENCE OF VERY UNSTABLE
AIR...DRYLINE APPROACHES FROM THE WEST...AND UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCES MOVING INTO THE REGION.

A SIGNIFICANT FLASH FLOODING EVENT OCCURRED IN PARTS OF THE
HEARTLAND AND NORTHWEST HILL COUNTRY ON THE 9TH. WITH

THE TEMPERATURE CLIMBED FROM 83 TO 90 DEGREES...AND THE
RELATIVE HUMIDITY RAPIDLY DROPPED TO 20 PERCENT.

A SEVERE WEATHER AND HEAVY RAIN EVENT OCCURRED LATER IN THE
MONTH. NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS OCCURRED ACROSS MOST
OF WEST CENTRAL TEXAS...FROM THE AFTERNOON OF THE 21ST INTO
THE EARLY MORNING HOURS OF THE 22ND. AN UPPER LEVEL
DISTURBANCE AND OUTFLOW BOUNDARY IN THE REGION HELPED TO
TRIGGER SHOWERS AND STORMS IN THE BIG COUNTRY. THE STORMS
INCREASED IN COVERAGE AND INTENSIFIED FARTHER SOUTH. A SEVERE
STORM PRODUCED A 76 MPH WIND GUST AT THE BROWNWOOD AIRPORT. IN
MCCULLOCH COUNTY...SEVERE STORMS PRODUCED WINDS TO 70 MPH AND

VERY HEAVY RAIN ACCOMPANIED MANY OF THE STORMS...AND THIS
CAUSED LOCALIZED FLOODING. RAINFALL OF 1.5 TO 3 INCHES WERE
COMMON ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS OF THE REGION...
WITH SCATTERED POCKETS OF MUCH HIGHER AMOUNTS. SCATTERED
LOCATIONS...ESPECIALLY IN EASTERN AND SOUTHERN SECTIONS...
RECEIVED 3 TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN. THE HIGHEST TOTALS IN EXCESS
OF 5 INCHES OCCURRED IN THE SOUTH-CENTRAL PARTS OF COLEMAN
AND TOM GREEN COUNTIES...AND NEAR THE CONCHO AND MENARD COUNTY
BORDER.

MOIST AIR REMAINED ACROSS MUCH OF TEXAS LATE IN THE MONTH.
UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCES GENERATED SLOW MOVING SHOWERS
AND THUNDERSTORMS ON SEVERAL DAYS LATE IN THE MONTH. THIS
RESULTED IN ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS MUCH OF WEST
CENTRAL TEXAS. CONSIDERABLE CLOUDCOVER HELPED TO KEEP
TEMPERATURES BELOW NORMAL...WITH DAYTIME HIGHS GENERALLY IN
THE 80S.
