Southeasterly winds today will shift to westerly this evening through early next week. Gusts of 25-35 mph are possible in the deserts and desert slopes of the mountains. Gusts up to 45-50 mph expected in mountain passes, especially in the Banning Pass. Winds will increase again this weekend.

Temperatures cool across the area Wednesday but remain elevated in the San Diego deserts and Coachella Valley area through Saturday.

Temperatures warm slightly over the area Thursday and Friday as high pressure moves in over the area temporarily, with temperatures cooling over the weekend as low pressure is expected to move in again.
