An early season heat wave has the potential to break monthly high temperature records, especially in the mountains and deserts.
As a very strong ridge builds in over the region by later this week, we will begin to see the possibility of breaking monthly records as highs soar more than 30 degrees above the seasonal average for some locations by Thursday! Daily max temperature records will likely be broken for many locations.
By Friday, as the ridge is at its strongest over the region, we will see the hottest temperatures of the week, with quite a few locations likely breaking monthly records within the lower deserts, mountains, and inland areas.
The warming trend continues on Monday with highs as much as 15-25 degrees above normal. Widespread moderate HeatRisk for inland coastal areas, valleys, and low deserts
A Heat Advisory remains in effect for the coastal areas and valleys for 10 AM Monday - 8 PM Friday. An Extreme Heat Watch is now in effect for the mountains and low deserts 10 AM Thursday - 8 PM Friday.
