Temperatures will continue to trend lower and today will likely be the last day with above-normal temperatures until next Thursday. Highs will range from the 70s and 80s in the mountains, upper 70s to lower 90s at the coast, upper 80s to mid 90s in the valleys, lower to mid 90s in the High Desert, and mid 100s in the lower desert.
Rainfall chances increase Saturday night, with widespread rain expected on Sunday. There still remains some uncertainty in the details of the rainfall forecast, but periods of moderate to locally heavy rain are expected on Sunday, especially in San Diego County, the mountains and the deserts.
Gusty southwest to west winds expected across the area Sunday. Preliminary forecast has wind gusts of 25 to 35 mph for the coastal waters and coast, 25 to 40 mph for the valleys, and 40 to 60 mph for the desert slopes of the mtns and into the deserts. Gusts near 70 mph through the San Gorgonio pass and other wind-prone east-facing slopes.
Another low-pressure system from the northwest will continue rainfall chances for the coastal basin and mountains Monday into Tuesday. This rain is expected to be lighter and more scattered in coverage. Dry conditions will return by Wednesday.
