Additional rainfall of 1 to 1.5 inches is expected near the coast to 3.5 to 5.5 inches in the mountains with locally 6 to 8 inches on the coastal slopes of the San Bernardino County mountains. For the deserts, around one-half inch is expected for the high desert and one-quarter inch for the lower deserts. The heaviest rainfall is expected for this morning through tonight with a snow level of 7500 to 8000 feet through this evening.
There will be stronger and gusty southwest to west winds for this morning through this evening, decreasing from north to south for late this evening and tonight. For the mountains and deserts, gusts of 40 to 50 mph with the stronger gusts along the lower desert slopes of the San Bernardino Mountains and the lower desert slopes in southern San Diego County to 75 mph. For the coasts and valleys, gusts of 25 to 35 mph are expected for this evening.
Snow levels will rise to 7500 to 8000 feet for today through this evening when the most widespread and heaviest precipitation is expected. Snow levels will then lower to 6000 to 6500 feet on Friday and 5500 to 6000 feet for Friday night with decreasing coverage and amounts. The heavier snowfall is expected mostly above 7000 to 7500 feet with as much as 1 to 2 feet above 8000 to 8500 feet. Snowfall of 2 to 5 inches is expected between 6500 and 7500 feet, mainly late tonight through Friay morning.
As much as 8 to 12 degrees below average for the valleys and inland Orange County. High temperatures for today for the coastal areas: 58 to 61, western valleys and inland Orange County: 56 to 59, inland valleys: 52 to 58, mountains between 4000 feet and 7000 feet: 40 to 47, high desert: 53 to 57, low desert: 63 to 68.
