An incoming storm system is set to bring multiple rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall Monday through Wednesday. The heaviest rain will fall Monday afternoon/evening, with another round of more moderate rainfall late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
The storm system will bring the first significant snowfall of the season to the mountains, with snow levels falling below 6000ft Monday night, and below 5000ft Tuesday night.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the San Bernardino and Riverside County Mountains from Monday morning until Thursday morning. In addition to heavy snowfall ranging from 4 to 20+ inches depending on elevation, strong winds gusting to 60-70 mph are possible.
Accompanying the incoming storm system, strong winds will pick up across the region on Monday, bringing wind gusts of 30-40 mph to the coasts and inland valleys, with gusts to 60 mph on the desert mountain slopes. Stronger southwest to west winds are forecast in the mountains Tuesday night into Wednesday.
With the strong winds, widespread Wind Advisories are in effect for Monday, with High Wind Watches in effect for the Banning Pass and San Diego County Mountains. Note, the Winter Storm Watches for the Riverside and San Bernardino County mountains cover the strong winds expected there as well. These hazards are in effect for late Monday morning through Monday evening.
