Heads up if going to the beach or out on the waters over the next few days! High surf and high seas will make for some treacherous conditions. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water! Strong Rip currents expected as well.
A few degrees cooler than Monday near the coast to 4 to 8 degrees cooler for the mountains and valleys. High temperatures for today for the coastal areas: 61 to 65, western valleys and inland Orange County: 63 to 67, inland valleys: 63 to 68, mountains between 4000 feet and 7000 feet: 53 to 62, high desert: 65 to 70, low desert: 74 to 78.
Gusty southwest to west winds for the mountains and deserts will strengthen during the afternoon. The strongest winds are expected for this evening with gusts to 45 to 55 mph. Winds will become northwesterly and decrease late tonight.
Showers will spread southward across the area during the afternoon and evening, decreasing and ending from the northwest by Christmas morning. Rainfall could range from less than one-tenth inch near the coast to one-quarter to one-third inch in the mountains with locally greater amounts. The snow level will lower from 7500 to 8000 feet late this afternoon to around 4500 feet for late tonight with a few inches of snowfall possible, mostly above 7500 feet.
Slightly cooler than Tuesday near the coast to as much as 10 degrees cooler for the high desert. High temperatures for Wednesday for the coastal areas: 60 to 64, western valleys and inland Orange County: 62 to 66, inland valleys: 58 to 64, mountains between 4000 feet and 7000 feet: 45 to 54, high desert: 54 to 59, low desert: 69 to 73.
