An atmospheric river will bring heavy rainfall to Southern California with the heaviest rain expected on Christmas Eve.
Locally heavy and more scattered rain showers are expected on Christmas day.
Gusty south winds will continue to develop through the afternoon, peaking tonight into Wednesday morning. Gusts of 35 mph or more are possible in the coastal areas with gusts 45-55 mph or more along the desert slopes and foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Gusts 25-35 knots over coastal waters.
Chances for snow in high elevation areas as snow levels start to drop overnight Thursday into early Friday morning.
Winds peak Thursday night, especially over the San Bernardino County mountains and the High deserts. Winds are expected to come down slightly but stay strong as another system approaches the area.
