Critical Fire Weather Persists in the Southern Plains; Severe Weather and Heavy Rain Expected Over the Weekend

High winds and very dry conditions will continue to produce elevated to critical fire weather conditions over portions of New Mexico and far western Texas through Saturday. Planned maintenance will result in an outage of two NOAA Weather Radio transmitters. The stations affected will be the Forks transmitter station KXI-27 serving Clallam, Jefferson, and Grays Harbor counties as well as the Neah Bay transmitter KIH-36 serving Clallam and Jefferson counties. Maintenance will begin on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, and may extend as late as noon Wednesday, October 7. We apologize for any inconvenience.
