Student Job Shadow
The Student Job Shadow Volunteer program at our office allows a high school senior or undergraduate college student the opportunity to visit our office and sit with a staff member (meteorologist, hydrologist, technician, office administration, etc.) to experience firsthand that person's job duties. These duties could range from, but aren't limited to, weather forecasting, radar and satellite data interpretation, weather balloon launches, flooding situations, electronic diagnosis and repair, software coding, and office administrative duties. When feasible, and/or safe to do so, the student will be able to assist the staff member complete his or her work.
Students will spend up to two hours at the office at an agreed upon date and time.
The Student Job Shadow Request Application can be accessed here.
Please note, for planning/scheduling purposes, we require a minimum of 14 days between when you request your job shadow and the date your job shadowing can occur.
