Dangerous Heat in the Central and Eastern U.S.; Severe Thunderstorms in the Central U.S. and Northeast; Critical Fire Weather in the Four Corners

Dangerous, record-breaking heat will intensify across most of the central and eastern U.S this week. Heat indices will likely exceed 100 degrees. Severe thunderstorms are forecast across parts of the Upper Midwest into the Great Lakes, the Northeast, and the central High Plains. SYNOPSIS:

Significant snow and/or blowing snow will continue this morning for areas east of the Continental Divide as well as Sweetwater County. Improving conditions are expected by late this morning into the afternoon, as the snow becomes lighter and winds weaken.

 

IMPACTS:

  • Severely reduced visibility to near zero early Monday morning from snow and blowing snow.
  • As of 3 AM roads were closed in many locations. Please visit wyoroad.info for the latest road conditions.
  • Bitter cold with frostbite and hypothermia possible.

again today. Wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph were widespread
across the area, with the higher gusts occurring between
