Active Weather for the West, Warming in the East

The potential for heavy snow at higher elevations in the western U.S. will continue for many spots through the weekend. In the meantime, the eastern half of the continental U.S. will transition to above normal temperatures ahead of a pair of cold fronts next week that will bring readings back to closer to normal as we approach Thanksgiving Day. Heavy snow impacted much of central Wyoming beginning Wednesday morning.  The heaviest snowfall fell across Fremont County Wednesday afternoon and evening.  The strongest winds were mostly across Sweetwater county Wednesday evening.   This is the final version for this storm event.

  More wind than snow in Rock Springs. 1 to 3 inches of snow combined with wind gusts over 50 mph across Sweetwater County.  A peak wind gust of 56 mph was clocked at the Rock Springs/Sweetwater County Airport at 513 PM Wednesday. - Click to Enlarge
