A couple of storm systems moved through the area early this week, bringing widespread rain and snow to the state. The first system mainly affected the western mountains while the second system send a cold front through areas east of the divide Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, bringing accumulating snow. It remained on the warm side across the south, with mainly rain with only a skiff of snow reported around the I-80 corridor. Freezing tempertures overnight led to widespread travel difficulty, even in areas that did not receive any snow as wet roadways froze for the morning commute on Wednesday.

Snow will clear from north to south today (Wednesday), with another weak wave clipping the northwest this evening, bringing more light snow to Yellowstone and the Tetons. Mild temperatures and gusty wind will push in tomorrow and will last through Friday, melting much of the snow that fell east of the divide by the weekend.

The high was 53 degrees at the downtown Riverton COOP site on Tuesday. It was a shock to the system when Riverton residents woke up to over 4" of snow on the ground Wednesday Morning!
