SYNOPSIS:

The winter storm will continue across the state through late today. The snow started in the north around noon yesterday will continue across the majority of the Cowboy State through the afternoon.  Snow will taper off in the north and northwest late afternoon and end this evening. Snow lingers through tonight in the central and southern areas. 

Today's high temperatures will only be in the teens to lower 20s. There will be partial clearing in the west and north early Tuesday morning with very cold low temperatures. 

Blowing and drifting snow will occur with this storm. Highest winds will be around South Pass, and eastern Sweetwater County to Natrona County, west of Casper. Sustained East to Northeast winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 40 to 50 mph, possibly higher. Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are now in effect through tonight. IMPACTS: Northwest and North: Sunday Afternoon - Monday Afternoon     Central and South: Sunday Evening - Early Tuesday

  • Travel will be hazardous with many road closures at this time.
  • Aviation will be impacted with low clouds, gusty winds, snow and blowing snow.
  • Severely reduced visibility at times from snow and blowing snow.
  • Strong wind gusts may create dangerous cross winds. 
  • Sharply colder temperatures in wake of the cold front for today and tonight.
