Active Weather for the West, Warming in the East

The potential for heavy snow at higher elevations in the western U.S. will continue for many spots through the weekend. In the meantime, the eastern half of the continental U.S. will transition to above normal temperatures ahead of a pair of cold fronts next week that will bring readings back to closer to normal as we approach Thanksgiving Day. Winter Storm Summary Banner

 

A moist westerly flow brought significant snowfall and some strong wind gusts to wesstern and northern Wyoming Monday night through Tuesday night.  Tables below show storm total snowfall reports received so far as well as peak wind gusts.

  13" of snow and still coming down Tuesday evening in the Bighorn National Recreation Area.  The Wyoming High Country Lodge, 26 miles east of Lovell on Highway 14A,  received a storm total of 28 inches!
