Remote iDSS: NWS Raleigh meteorologists can provide weather briefings via phone calls (inbound or outbound calls), online webinars, and email briefings. The types of events that "remote iDSS" works well for include: large public gatherings, large fairs or community events, and natural or man-made hazmat incidents, among others. |

On-site iDSS: NWS Raleigh meteorologists can provide weather briefings on-site and in-person via deployments to an emergency operations center or command post near an incident or event. The types of events that "remote iDSS" works well for include: very large public gathering or incidents where the potential public hazards and risks, and number of people involved, warrant having instant on-site weather briefings. The types of weather events that are particularly useful to have an on-site meteorologist include hurricanes, winter storms, large-scale severe weather outbreaks, and major flooding events. |
