Severe Weather Threats Across the Plains; Dangerous Heat and Wildfire Concerns for the West; Watching the Tropics

Severe thunderstorms are expected across the Central Plains accompanied by damaging wind gusts and large hail. In addition, heavy rainfall may lead to instances of flash flooding from the Plains and mid-Atlantic regions. Repairs and calibration of the Paducah (KPAH) WSR-88D Doppler
radar have been completed.  As a result, the radar is considered
fully operational at this time.  We would like to thank the folks
from the NWS Radar Operations Center who worked long hours to get
the radar back up ahead of the May 11 target date.  We appreciate
your patience and understanding during the radar outage.
