New Weather Information Resource Available for Local Amish and
Off-Grid Communities

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, Kentucky, is
pleased to announce a new resource for Amish and off-grid
communities in our region. Those without access to electronic
means to receive forecast and hazardous weather information can
now access this from the National Weather Service by calling our
office at 270-744-6331 and selecting Option 4. After selecting
this option, callers can listen to the latest forecast information
for selected portions of the area as well as the Hazardous Weather
Outlook.

"Communities that lack electronic ways to receive forecast and
hazardous weather information are particularly vulnerable when
dangerous weather strikes," says NWS Paducah Warning Coordination
Meteorologist Christine Wielgos. "By adding this new phone
resource, we hope this will allow these communities to stay aware
and prepared when the National Weather Service is forecasting
hazardous weather."

Another new option will allow callers in the Evansville Tri-State
area to access local forecast information by selecting Option 5
when they call our office. In addition, callers will still be able
to access weather forecast and climate information for the Paducah
area, local river stages, and have the option to speak with a
forecaster if desired.
