Atmospheric River in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies this Weekend

A Pacific storm and atmospheric river will impact the Pacific Northwest states and northern Rockies this weekend, bringing locally heavy low elevations rain and heavy high elevation snow in the mountains. An atmospheric river will bring warmer temperatures, breezy winds, and periods of moderate rainfall Saturday evening through Monday. Prepare now by clearing snow around storm drains, home foundations, and window wells.
Periods of wind is in the forecast beginning Saturday and continuing through Tuesday. Winds will be strongest Tuesday. This will lead to concerns of soft saturated soils and gusty winds creating tree damage. The areas of strongest winds will be across the Waterville Plateau, Columbia Basin, Spokane Coeur d'Alene area, Palouse, and lower garfield and asotin counties.
