Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain Across the Central US; Wintry Mix in the Northern Plains and Northeast

Severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are possible across the central U.S. through Saturday. Large hail, damaging winds, and tornadoes are all possible. There is an increased threat for wildfire development in the southern to central High Plains. A round of thunderstorms moved over the Coeur d'Alene area during the afternoon and evening of May 19th. Kootenai County Spotter #62 captured these images from the North Idaho University campus. The first picture is a lightning strike over the lake. The second is mammatus clouds sited beneath the storm.
