Fire Weather Concerns for the Plains; Thunderstorms in the Southeast; Record Warmth Spreads in the Southwest

Elevated to locally critical conditions will persist across the High Plains. Showers and scattered thunderstorms are expected over parts of the Southeast and Florida Peninsula. A round of thunderstorms moved over the Coeur d'Alene area during the afternoon and evening of May 19th. Kootenai County Spotter #62 captured these images from the North Idaho University campus. The first picture is a lightning strike over the lake. The second is mammatus clouds sited beneath the storm.
