Arctic Air for the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic; Increase Rainfall for Pacific Northwest

An arctic cold front will quickly track across the Great Lakes, Northeast and mid-Atlantic. Snow showers and squalls will accompany this system with increasing winds and falling temperatures. Damaging wind gusts may result in tree damage and power outages. A round of thunderstorms moved over the Coeur d'Alene area during the afternoon and evening of May 19th. Kootenai County Spotter #62 captured these images from the North Idaho University campus. The first picture is a lightning strike over the lake. The second is mammatus clouds sited beneath the storm.
