Atmospheric River in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies this Weekend

A Pacific storm and atmospheric river will impact the Pacific Northwest states and northern Rockies this weekend, bringing locally heavy low elevations rain and heavy high elevation snow in the mountains. Here are some additional photos of snow rollers found near Medical Lake in eastern Washington on December 30th 2008 courtesy of Ron Trees. While these snow rollers are not as large and well defined as the Camas Prairie snow rollers, it is easier to visualize how each one initially develops with the right combination of wind and snow conditions.
