Powerful Pacific System Impacting the West; First Significant Snow for Portions of the East

Power Pacific system will continue to bring significant impacts for Pacific Northwest into northern California the remainder of the week. Dangerous coastal affects, heavy rain, flooding, strong winds, and higher elevation mountain snow continues. These photos were taken of the Stehekin River upstream of Stehekin in the North Cascades. The scene is somewhat surreal because of all the snow and ice that is still in the trees. This is a sign that the high water is not due to local snowmelt, but rather from the heavy rains near the crest of the Cascades.
