Ben Kyger is the Director of the Office of Facilities (OF). He has the responsibility of establishing, overseeing, and providing strategic direction for the OF, which includes the planning, programming, and budgeting for future NWS facility construction and maintenance, overseeing the leasing and construction of new facilities, and the retrofit, expansion, relocation and maintenance of previously built facilities.
Ben graduated from the California State Polytechnic University and started his career with Electronic Data Systems, eventually becoming an account executive supporting Bethlehem Steel. He went on to work for i2 Technologies as a consulting director, supporting one of their largest clients, Caterpillar Corporation. He became the Deputy Director of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Prediction Central Operations in March 2006 and served as the center’s Director from 2008 to 2024.
