            Port Jefferson firehouse was flooded and had
            to be evacuated. There was also significant
            damage to their communication equipment.
            Numerous water rescues were performed in
            Port Jefferson with all water rescue assets
            utilized, including a high water rescue
            truck and two swift water rescue teams, for
            search and rescue of stranded motorists in
            flood waters. No injuries were reported.

            The Nissequoque River dam broke around 9:30 
            am due to the flash flooding causing the 
            entire Blydenburgh Pond to empty into the 
            Nissequogue River. The river overflowed its 
            banks sending water into homes and onto 
            nearby streets. Two residents were trapped 
            on the second floor of their home near the 
            head of the River and had to be rescued by 
            Smithtown Fire Department. The River 
            flooding also impacted service on the Port 
            Jefferson Line of the LIRR.
