NWS Nashville Student Volunteer Program

The student volunteer position is open to any student (undergraduate or graduate) that is interested in the atmospheric sciences.  The students will work along side operational forecasters during the summer to gain valuable experience. They will also work with a designated mentor on a project tailored to their interests. Volunteers should expect to report in person at NWS Nashville's office in Old Hickory, TN. 

This is an unpaid position (but the experience you acquire will be invaluable!)

Additional Notes

Students are encouraged, but not required, to work with their college or university program to acquire class credit for their experience.

If there are more students than available volunteer slots, informal interviews may be conducted by WFO management to determine who is selected.

Selections will be made by late March. Applicants will be notified of their application status in April.
