Snow Squalls Across the Great Lakes, Northern Mid-Atlantic, and Northeast; Severe Storms in the Southern Plains Wednesday into Thursday

The threat of heavy snowfall and gusty winds continue for portions of the Great Lakes, the northern Mid-Atlantic, and New England through Wednesday. There is the potential for snow squalls that may produce dangerous travel. A storm system is expected to produce severe storms over the Southern Plains Wednesday and Thursday. Rain returns to the area on Friday as a series of systems impacts the area beginning Friday and Saturday, with more significant storms possible Sunday through the early part of next week. There has been increasing confidence in impacts in the North Bay. The main question is whether moisture will impact the area, get diverted to the north or south, or fail to approach the coast. There's low confidence in the forecast at this time, so follow us for forecast updates!
A Freeze Warning and Frost Advisory has been issued for portions of the region from 1 AM to 9 AM Wednesday. The Freeze Warning includes the interior Central Coast and southern East Bay Hills/Mountains. The Frost Advisory includes the Interior North Bay, northern Salinas Valley and Santa Clara Valley (excluding the city of San Jose). The cold will cause hazardous conditions for unsheltered populations and those without access to adequate heating. Protect people, pets, plants, and pipes!
A Freeze Watch will go into effect at 1 AM Thursday for most of our area due to temperatures in the upper 20s to mid 30s.
