A warming trend is expected through the first half of the week, with the hottest day anticipated to be Tuesday. With both overnight and afternoon temperatures projected to range between 5 and 15 degrees above normal values, this will translate to Moderate HeatRisk. Moderate HeatRisk means there's a potential for heat-related illnesses to those sensitive to heat, such as older adults (65+), infants, athletes, outdoor workers, those without effective cooling, and those with chronic diseases. Some risk to general population. Be sure to drink plenty of water or sport drinks, reduce time spent outdoors or say in the shade, and open windows at night.
Warm conditions are forecast through mid-week with Moderate HeatRisk spreading through some of the greater population centers Monday and Tuesday. Be sure to hydrate with water and/or electrolytes before you're thirsty, wear light clothing, and stay cool. As always, NEVER leave kids/pets in cars!
Isolated (10-30% chance) dry thunderstorms (≤ 0.10 inches of rainfall) producing abundant lightning over receptive vegetation. New wildfire starts are the primary threat with extreme fire behavior and rapid rates of spread likely on new and existing wildfires due to erratic and gusty outflow winds. Be sure to exercise fire weather safety and make an emergency plan. Be sure to stay alert and have multiple ways to receive weather information. Know your evacuation zones and routes and use them if necessary.
