Tracking Atmospheric River for California; Record Temperatures Further East

An atmospheric river will bring gusty to high winds, moderate to heavy rainfall, and potential flooding to California today through Saturday. Heavy snow will be possible over the Sierra Nevada mountains into Friday associated with this atmospheric river. A High Wind Warning remains in effect for the coastal North Bay, the Marin Hills, San Francisco and coastal San Mateo County, with Wind Advisories issued for the North Bay and San Francisco, due to strong southerly winds gusting up to 50 to 60 miles per hour from 10 PM tonight through 10 AM Thursday. A Wind Advisory is now effect from 10 PM tonight through 4 PM Thursday for East Bay and areas S of San Francisco. Secure loose outdoor objects! Prepare for damaging winds! Widespread hazardous marine conditions will develop this afternoon and continue through tomorrow afternoon. Widespread southerly winds with gale force to storm force gusts are expected with rough to very rough seas for the inner waters and outer waters.
A Beach Hazards Statement is in effect from 3 PM Thursday to 9 PM Friday for all Pacific Coast beaches. An increased risk of sneaker waves and rip currents is to be expected with breaking waves of 13 to 18 feet with the highest waves up to 23 feet in favored locations. Stay off of waterside infrastructure and never turn your back on the ocean!
