Confidence is growing in a spring storm bringing snow to portions of southern Montana by Monday. There is still a range of possible solutions, but periods of winter travel are possible from southwest Montana and Lemhi County eastwards (highlighted in the white circle). Snow will mainly fall above 5000 feet in the west, and above 7000 ft in south-central Montana. If you have travel or outdoor plans, keep an eye on the forecast!
Warm and relatively dry conditions through Friday will be replaced by wet and cooler conditions by Sunday and Monday. Precipitation will favor west-central and southwest Montana as well and north central Idaho, while far northwest Montana near the Idaho Panhandle will likely miss out on most of the moisture. Snow levels will drop as low as 6500 feet by Monday morning allowing for some light snow accumulations in the higher terrain along the Continental Divide into southwest Montana.
