Numerous showers and thunderstorms developed and continuously trained across Mobile county Alabama during the afternoon of Thursday, September 19th. Torrential rainfall from the slow moving and training showers and storms resulted in significant rainfall amounts across central and southern portions of Mobile county. Doppler radar storm total rainfall accumulation estimations ranged from 3 to 7 inches across a portion of central and southern Mobile county, including locations near Downtown Mobile, Tillmans Corner, Theodore, Irvington, locations near and east of Bayou La Batre and Coden, and Dauphin Island. Isolated rainfall amounts between 7 and 10 inches were estimated near Midtown Mobile, which matched well with reported rainfall measurements. The very heavy rains fell over a short period of time, which resulted in significant flash flooding in Mobile and Tillmans Corner. Numerous high water rescues were reported, with vehicles stalled and floating in the flood waters. ...Rainfall Reports...
