Click/tap image to enlarge | The first cold front of Autumn will cause winds to increase, building the seas the resulting in above-normal water levels at the coast around high times this evening and Friday morning. A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for coastal Volusia County this afternoon into tonight. Minor to moderate flooding of low-lying lots, parks, docks, and roadways may occur near the shoreline and along the Intracoastal.
Click/tap image to enlarge | There is a High Surf Advisory in effect for all Atlantic beaches today with rough surf of 4-8 ft, which may cause minor beach and dune erosion at the times of high tide. There is also a High risk of rip currents at all area beaches today, with a strong southward flowing longshore current.
Click/tap image to enlarge | Deteriorating marine conditions through the day. North to northeast winds will increase to to 15-25 knots, and up to 30 knots in the Volusia waters. Seas respond by building to 6-9 feet north of the Cape, and up to 6 feet south today, and building to 7-12 feet tonight. Small Craft Advisories go into effect across Volusia waters this morning, expanding to Brevard waters this afternoon and to all the waters by tonight.

Minor risk of lightning storms across all of east central Florida today, then the risk shifts south Friday and Saturday. Wind gusts today behind the front pick up to 25-35 mph from Brevard and Osceola counties north, including the Orlando and Daytona Metro areas. Friday wind gusts 25-30 mph will spread across the whole area. These winds will produce a high risk of rip currents and high/rough surf at the beaches today into the weekend. Boating conditions will become hazardous today into Friday as seas build to 7 to 12 feet and winds increase to 15 to 30 knots, highest north of Sebastian inlet.

Drier air gradually filters down the peninsula into late week; this will allow rain chances to linger across the south through the rest of the week and into the weekend. Breezy to windy conditions today and Friday will produce poor to hazardous beach and marine impacts which includes rough surf and a high risk of rip currents and a strong southward flowing longshore current.
