Click/tap image to enlarge | Hot and windy today ahead of a front, then strong to severe thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening as the front pushes through. Near record high temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s, including the coast where a lack of sea breeze will prolong hot conditions. Winds increase to around 20 mph with frequent gusts 30 to 35 mph in the late morning and afternoon. There is a Slight Risk (level 2 of 5) for severe thunderstorms in Lake and Volusia counties, and a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 5) for Orange, Seminole, Osceola, and Brevard counties. Rain and storm chances continue Saturday night into Sunday, though storms will be more typical of Florida.
Click/tap image to enlarge | The Storms Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch for Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Osceola and Brevard counties through 6pm. Primary storm hazards are locally damaging wind gusts at or above 60 mph, hail to coin-size, and possibly a tornado or two. Storms will also be capable of locally heavy rainfall leading to flooding and deadly lightning.
Click/tap image to enlarge | A Wind Advisory has been issued for Lake, Volusia, Seminole, Orange, Brevard, and Osceola counties in Florida from 10 AM through 6 PM for southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with frequent gusts to around 35 mph. Winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts 30 to 35 mph to the south.
Click/tap image to enlarge | A combination of southwesterly winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts 30 to 35 mph and low relative humidity between 30% and 40% will result in critical fire weather conditions for Osceola, Southern Brevard, Indian River, Okeechobee, St. Lucie, and Martin counties in East Central Florida. A Red Flag Warning has been issued and will be in effect from noon through 7 PM. Very sensitive fire weather conditions continue to the north.

This maintenance is important for the integrity of the radome structure, which protects the radar from hazardous weather.
