A cold front will move east-southeast over east central Florida tonight. Isolated showers (~20%) are forecast along and ahead of the front over Osceola to southern Brevard counties and to the south. 10pm tempertaures in the upper 50s to upper 60s are forecast. Mostly cloudy skies are expected to become partly cloudy behind the cold front. Breezy west-southwest winds at 10-20mph with gusts to 20-30mph are expected. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 3am to 9am Tuesday morning for Lake, Orange, Seminole, and Volusia counties where Wind Chill values in the mid 20s to low 30s are forecast overnight into Tuesday morning. The potential exists for frostbite and/or hypothermia with prolonged exposure to Wind Chill values in the low 30s and below. A Gale Warning is in effect for the offshore (20-60nm) Volusia county waters for west-southwest winds at 20-30kts and seas to 7-9ft. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for the remainder of the marine zones for west-southwest winds at 20-25kts and seas up to 6-9ft. Marine conditions will be hazardous to dangerous. There is a Moderate Risk for rip currents at all area beaches. Remember to always swim near a lifeguard to to never swim alone.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Tuesday Morning for Lake, Volusia, Seminole and Orange Counties from 3 AM until 9 AM. Very cold wind chills as low as 25 to 30 degrees expected. The potential exists for frostbite and/or hypothermia with prolonged exposure to Wind Chill values in the low 30s and below.
Much colder air is expected across east central Florida behind a cold front into Tuesday and through much of this week with the coldest mornings expected to be Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Minimum Wind Chill values generally in the mid 20 to low 30s are forecast from Brevard to Osceola county northward with the mid 30s to low 40s to the south each morning through Thursday. Minimum Wind Chill values in the mid 30s to mid 40s are forecast Friday morning. The potential exists for frostbite and/or hypothermia with prolonged exposure to Wind Chill values in the low 30s and below. Patchy frost is also forecast Tuesday and Friday mornings mainly to the north of I-4. Patchy to areas of frost are forecast Wednesday and Thursday mornings (over the interior west of I-95, in addition to coastal Volusia county). Patchy to areas of frost will have the potential to cause damage to unprotected vegetation.
Below normal temperatures are likely (~60-80%) January 12th-16th with the potential for minimum temperatures below 40°F in some locations. It's too early to determine exact temperature values into next week and more will be known about "how cold" in the next several days.
