A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 9 AM EST this morning for Lake and interior Volusia counties. Frost will have the potential to harm sensitive vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered. Cooler temperatures and dry conditions continue today with northwesterly winds. Max temperatures will only recover into the upper 50s to around 60F along and north of I-4. Lower to middle 60s will be found southward and perhaps a few upper 60s across the Treasure Coast. Partly cloudy skies will exist across the area with wind speeds 7-13 mph and some higher gusts and this will make afternoon temperatures still feel like the 50s for most. A Moderate Risk of dangerous rip currents and a strong southward-flowing current will be present at all area beaches. Remember to always swim near a lifeguard and never enter the water alone. Small craft should Exercise Caution over the Gulf Stream for northwest winds 15 to 20 knots this morning and seas building to 6 feet through the day.
Cold temperatures are expected into mid to late week. The coldest morning is expected to be Thursday with low temperatures in the low 30s to low 40s and minimum wind chill values in the mid 20s to low 30s forecast across much of east central Florida. Below normal high temperatures (~10-15°F+ through THU) are forecast through this week. Minimum Wind Chill values in the low 30s to low 40s are expected overnight into Wednesday morning north and west of the Treasure Coast with the upper 30s to mid 40s forecast over the Treasure Coast. Patchy to areas of frost are forecast each morning through Friday (mainly across the interior west of I-95 and north of Martin county, in addition to coastal Volusia county).
Below normal temperatures are likely (~70-80%) January 12th-17th with the potential for minimum temperatures below 40°F in some locations Sunday morning and across much of east central Florida into late next week. It's too early to determine exact temperature values into late next week and more will be known about "how cold" in the next several days.
