A significant snowstorm at the start of the month set up just east of the Goodland Forecast area keeping that part of the state below normal. Several snows across the Colorado Plains led to above normal precipitation across eastern Colorado. Date Valid: Feb 01 2025 Temperature East of the Colorado border in the Goodland forecast area saw near normal temperatures for the month which corresponds to the area that saw the least amount of snowfall. These near normal temperatures are also contributed to a warmer end to the month that followed well below normal temperatures during the middle portion of the month. Eastern Colorado was below normal due to a snowpack in place for a lot of the month. Hydrologic Conditions and Impacts No known impacts at this time. However a large portion of the region is experiencing below normal streamflow. Decreasing soil moisture across the Nebraska Panhandle may become an issue across SW Nebraska and perhaps into Kansas if the drier pattern continues. Weekly value for period ending October 26, 2024 Feb 01 2025 Fire Hazard Impacts No outlook for significant fire wildland fire for the our portion of the High Plains. As mentioned earlier due to the dry conditions and dormant vegetation some fire risk will continue to exist until vegetation greens up or a wetter pattern emerges. February 2025 February 2025 Seven Day Precipitation Forecast For at least the next week the overall pattern does continue to look dry. A small chance at some light precipitation may be possible towards the end of the first full week of February but currently looks to favor northeast Colorado. Long-Range Outlooks The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage Through the end of April below normal precipitation is favored. The combination of that and the favored below normal temperatures to the north signals that the potential for the continuation of the northwest flow pattern we have been in for the majority of the winter so far. Valid February 2025 Drought Outlook The latest monthly and seasonal outlooks can be found on the CPC homepage Due to the signal through the end of April on the previous slide no improvement or end to the drought is currently forecast. Will be interesting to see how the drought is forecast to develop to the southwest of the area, as drought in that area sometimes plays a role in how wet it may be across the region.
