Critical Fire Weather Conditions Continue for Southern California; Much Colder in the Central and Eastern U.S.

Critical fire weather conditions will continue for coastal southern California through today due to moderate to locally strong Santa Ana winds. Particularly Dangerous Situation Red Flag Warnings remain in effect. Cold temperatures continue today from the Midwest to the central Appalachians, with a brief warm up for the end of the week. A mix of sun and clouds today but warmer across the Four State Region with afternoon high temperatures ranging from the middle 50s north to near 60 south.
Chilly temperatures once again overnight with lows ranging from the middle 20s north to the lower and middle 30s south.
With a prolonged period of below normal temperatures expected next week, probabilities of winter precipitation continues to increase for the early to middle portions of next week, especially near and south of the I-20 Corridor. This potential Winter Storm will continue to be monitored as the threat of impacts from winter precipitation can only increase as the threat for winter precipitation increases.
