A Winter Storm warning is in effect from 1 AM Saturday through 1 AM Sunday. Additionally, a Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect from 7 AM Saturday until 1 AM Sunday. Accumulations up to 4 inches with localized amounts up to 7 inches are possible. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will also bring areas of blowing snow. #lubwx #txwx
A slow-moving upper level storm system will bring accumulating snow to much of the region on Saturday. Most areas on the Caprock could see up to 4 inches of snow with localized amounts up to 7 inches possible across the far southern Texas Panhandle. #lubwx #txwx
Rain will overspread the entire area tonight. Amounts will generally range from 0.25-0.5" by early Saturday morning with localized higher amounts possible.
Widespread precipitation is expected on Saturday. Main precipitation type in the morning will be in the form of rain, transitioning to snow in the afternoon.
A few lingering snow showers early Sunday morning, clearing through the late morning hours. Otherwise, dry and warmer weather returns through the rest of the week.

Local Weather History For April 4th...
1978: A storm spotter observed a brief tornado 10 miles south of Silverton this evening that resulted in no known damage.
Later in the evening, another tornado touched down farther south in Crosby County near the community of Pansy (8 miles ENE
Crosbyton). This tornado caused roof damage to the church and substantially damaged one house and two mobile homes.
Several farm buildings in the area were destroyed. No injuries were reported.
