West winds could gust up to 45 mph by Saturday afternoon, mainly on the Caprock. Be sure to secure loose outdoor objects like holiday lawn decorations!
Mostly clear skies and light winds will make for another chilly night with lows in the 20s for many areas.
Saturday will be warm and windy with west winds gusting up to 40 mph in the afternoon. Light north winds arrive on Sunday behind a weak cold front.
Mild and uneventful weather carries through next week with no precipitation on the horizon.

 

 

 

Local Weather History For December 5th...
2011 (5th-6th): Following on the heels of a wintry storm three days earlier, an upper level trough moved over the region
on the 5th causing widespread snowfall across the region. Snow began early in the morning hours with the heaviest snow
accumulating early in the event; particularly in Friona where six inches was measured. The snow then tapered off late on
the fifth into the early morning hours of the 6th. Numerous vehicle accidents were reported in the city of Lubbock as well
as in surrounding areas where generally two inches of snow had fallen. No serious injuries were reported.
