Mark Conder
Lead Forecaster National Weather Service – Lubbock TX |
Although I was born in Marietta, Georgia, I grew up in Littleton, Colorado (on the outskirts of Denver). I came to Lubbock in 1997 to attend graduate school at Texas Tech. While at TTU, I was able to participate in a wide variety of field experiments; including dryline research, hurricane deployments, and damage surveys. I also became an avid storm chaser. While my job as a forecaster does not permit me to chase very often, I still enjoy getting out into the field when I can. I'm also a HAM and you may hear me out on a chase in west Texas (my call sign is KD5JLE). Some of my interests outside weather include traveling, history (particularly WWII), photography and sports (pro football is probably my favorite spectator sport, while I enjoy playing softball, tennis and basketball). Education: Texas Tech University: Master’s degree in Atmospheric Science - Meteorology; 2000 Texas Tech University: Doctoral degree in Geosciences - Meteorology; 2005 NWS Career - Highlights: |
