Record-setting heat in February

 

In mid-February 2017, very warm temperatures developed across the South Plains of West Texas. Not only did Lubbock break record high temperatures on February 10th and 11th, the high of 91 degrees was the warmest February temperature in the historical record at Lubbock.
 
Childress also broke record highs on the 10th and 11th. Their high of 95 degrees on the 11th tied for the warmest temperature in February with Febraury 24th, 1904.
