Formed 3 miles west of Troy and moved ENE, passing NW of town.  The funnel was "a spectacular sight, half a mile high, with a long kite tail".  A farm home was unroofed; a bed from the second story landed across the road.  Clothes were carried for a mile.

Moved NE, passing 3 miles E of Bellflower in Montgomery County before dissipating in Lincoln County.  A church and a barn were destroyed.  A woman was killed and an infant was injured.  Unclear which county the death and injury occurred in.

Formed 4 miles SW of Apex and moved NE across the town before crossing the Mississippi River into Calhoun County, IL.  Four homes were destroyed and 11 people injured in Apex.  A total of 11 people were killed, 63 injured, and $450,000 in damage with the tornado.

A school bus garage at the R-III school was demolished.  Metal utility buildings were picked up and rotated before being dropped in a broken condition.  Mobile homes, power and telephone lines were damaged.  Heavy damage to homes and buildings in Troy.  Movement of storm was from W to E, with the last damage on Highway 47 E of Troy.

A small tornado apparently first touched down on Lincoln County Route D, 1.5 miles S of the Route D/Route E intersection, or about 8 miles SW of Silex.  The tornado moved NE crossing Route D about 1 mile E of the Route D/Route E intersection.  Damage path ended 1 mile N of Route E, 5 miles W of Silex.  Damage included numerous farm buildings, 2 farm homes and a mobile home, and a two-car garage.

A tornado formed just southeast of Whiteside and continued northeast for about 6 miles. Two barns and 2 utility sheds were destroyed near the initial formation point. Several power poles and large trees were either snapped off or uprooted. This damage was rated at F1 while the rest of the damage path was F0. The tornado continued along County Road F destroying a few more utility buildings, downing numerous trees and power poles

The tornado that formed in Montgomery County north of Bellflower moved into Lincoln County, strengthened, and caused extensive damage along Highway E on the north side of Olney. A home was completely destroyed as the tornado reached F3 intensity and was about 300 yards wide. The family at home escaped injury as they had taken shelter in the basement. About 1:35 am CST, the tornado destroyed a home and caused damage to a home business along Highway H northwest of Silex. At this point the tornado was a strong F2 and about 200 yards wide. A man in the home that was destroyed suffered a broken leg. At the home business, the home suffered roof damage and had the north side brick wall pulled off of the house. A large machine shed suffered extensive damage and a 50 foot travel trailer and the pickup truck it was attached too were blown onto their sides. The tornado continued northeast and primarily crossed over wildlife and conservation areas south of Whiteside. The tornado crossed US Highway 61 near the intersection with Highway F about 1:40 am CST and caused minor damage at a farm and a couple of homes. An old barn was destroyed, a metal shed was destroyed, a garage had the door buckled and windows blown out. A nearly constant trail of tree damage continued as the tornado approached the Lincoln Pike County line west of Dameron about 1:46 am CST.

A tornado briefly touched down around 5 miles south southeast of Hawk Point, near Big Creek on North Rock Church Road. It damaged half a dozen trees. The tree tops were sheared off wtih tree limbs up to 2 feet in diameter thrown in different directions.A strong cold front moved through the region, triggering showers and thunderstorms. Several low-topped supercells produced 8 tornadoes and straight line wind damage from central and northeast Missouri to west central Illinois during the evening of October 2nd.

A tornado touched down 3 miles east of Davis in an open field west of a farmstead and destroyed a 2 story barn. Six by six supports from the barn where driven into the ground near the farm house. The home was about 60 yards to the northeast of the barn and was heavily damaged by the tornado. As the tornado travelled to the east, a couple of new homes sustained minor roof damage on Penrod Road. It continued to the east northeast and damaged three additional machine sheds as well as numerous trees before lifting and dissipating.A strong cold front moved through the region...triggering showers and thunderstorms. Some of the thunderstorms became severe with large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes and flash flooding reported.
