BAMEX Forecast Operations

BAMEX FORECAST OPERATIONS

- Shift Hours were 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM CDT
- Forecast Team consisted of one NWS Forecaster and BAMEX Researcher
- Forecast preparation took place at Mid-America Airport (just north of Scott Air Force Base).
- FX-net / GEMPAK - GARP data sets were available for forecast preparations.
- Focused on the Day 1 (afternoon) and Day 2 forecasts for MCS development.
- Forecast Team performed briefing at 12:00 noon to PI's and Aircraft crews.

BAMEX NOWCAST OPERATIONS

- Two Nowcast Shifts for Day 1 operations.
Shift Hours were 11:30 am to 7:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 2:00 am.
- Nowcast Team consisted of one NWS Forecaster and one (two) BAMEX Researchers.
- Nowcasters worked directly with the Operations Director.
- FX-net / Nowrad / WARP model output was available to the Nowcasters
