A low pressure system from the north will bring colder temperatures and rain chances to southern CA as early as Saturday afternoon, lasting possibly into Monday night. Expecting most areas to see at least a little rain, with the highest rain totals favoring Los Angeles County and the eastern San Gabriel mountains. There is also a risk of thunderstorms (10-20% chance), capable of producing small hail and isolated brief heavy downpours with rainfall rates up to 0.50 in/hr. There is a low chance for debris flows for recent burn scars, with this thunderstorm risk.
A storm system moving across SW California Saturday through Monday will bring a cold air mass into the area with low snow levels and mountain snow. Snow levels are expected to drop to between 3500 to 4500 feet, with 1-4 inches of snow for most areas, except 4-8 inches in the San Gabriel Mountains. There could be impacts to the Interstate 5 Corridor as snow levels lower. Slick roadways are expected above 3500 feet with winter driving conditions at the higher elevations, especially in the San Gabriels.
