After a warm and dry start to meteorological fall, October continued on a warm note, but flipped to a much wetter pattern. There were a few noteworthy rain events, especially on October 24-25, when 1-5" of rain fell. The well above normal rainfall resulted in substantial drought improvement, including areas of far northern Illinois that had been in severe to extreme drought.

precipitation were recorded, which is 2.34 inches above normal.

normal.
