Hurricane Ivan Post Storm Report
The initial report contains extreme wind, pressure, tide, and rainfall data that occurred over Southeast Louisiana and Coastal Mississippi on September 15-16 when Hurricane Ivan passed just to the east of the area before making landfall as a powerful Category 3 Hurricane near Gulf Shores-Orange Beach, Alabama. The report also contains some preliminary information on the hurricane's impact on the region. While the area was spared the brunt of the hurricane=s worst damage, some hurricane force wind gusts occurred over lower Plaquemines Parish, as well as extreme eastern portion of the Mississippi Gulf Coast, producing wind damage to mobile homes and roof damage to other structures, as well as downing trees and power lines.
The second report below contains meteorological data and storm impact over Southeast Louisiana on September 22-23, 2004 when the remnant circulation from Ivan regenerated into tropical storm over the middle Gulf of Mexico on September 22nd before moving onshore extreme southwest Louisiana late on September 23rd. Affects across coastal areas of southeast Louisiana were minimal, with only minor flooding of low lying coastal roadways reported early on September 23rd.
