Last Map Update: Tue, Jul 2, 2024 at 7:14:59 am CDT

Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories are in effect today from 10AM through 7PM CDT for heat index values from 110 to 118 degrees possible for all of Southeast Louisiana and South Mississippi. Make sure to hydrate and take frequent breaks when spending time outdoors.
While the hottest days of the week are upon us, the rest of the week will still feature hot and humid conditions. Most notably, low temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s will mean there will be very limited relief from the daytime heat. The only relief will be in the form of showers and thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon. Wednesday has the highest chance of rain areawide.
With hazardous heat in the forecast through the weekend, it's important to practice heat safety. NEVER leave people or pets in a closed car on a warm day. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Wear loose, lightweight and light-colored clothing. And spend time in air conditioning and the shade.
