HURRICANE WIND WATCH FOR LOWER SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA AND THE
MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST.

A HURRICANE WATCH IS ALSO IN EFFECT FOR LOWER SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA
AND THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST.

HURRICANE KATRINA...LOCATED OVER THE SOUTHEAST GULF OF MEXICO...IS
EXPECTED TO SLOWLY INTENSIFY OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS AS THE STORM
MAKES A GRADUAL TURN TOWARD THE WEST-NORTHWEST. KATRINA IS EXPECTED
TO APPROACH THE CENTRAL GULF COAST REGION SUNDAY NIGHT ALTHOUGH
TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS ARE EXPECTED WELL AHEAD OF THE CENTER OF
KATRINA EARLY SUNDAY EVENING.

AN INLAND HURRICANE WIND WATCH IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR
HURRICANE FORCE...OR FREQUENT GUSTS AT OR ABOVE HURRICANE FORCE...ARE
