THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...

  PEARL RIVER COUNTY IN SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
  HANCOCK COUNTY IN SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
  JACKSON COUNTY IN SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
  HARRISON COUNTY IN SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI

* UNTIL 815 PM CDT

* AT 420 PM CDT...LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIALS AND SPOTTERS       
  ACROSS THE WARNED AREA CONTINUE TO REPORT WATER COVERED ROADWAYS   
  AND MUCH PONDING OF WATER ACROSS LOW LYING...FLOOD PRONE AREAS.    
  NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE RADAR INDICATES FROM 6 TO 12 INCHES HAVE  
  FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA...WITH A FEW LIGHT BANDS OF RAINFALL        
  CONTINUING TO TRAIN ACROSS THE AREA. DUE TO EXTREMELY SATURATED    
  GROUNDS AND EXPECTED SLOW DRAINAGE OF FLOODED AREAS...A FLASH      
  FLOOD WARNING HAS BEEN REISSUED FOR THE AREA THROUGH 815 PM THIS   
  EVENING. 

* SOME AREAS LIKELY EXPERIENCING FLOOD PROBLEMS ARE...
  POPULARVILLE...KILN...DIAMONHEAD...LYMAN...LONG BEACH...PASS       
  CHRISTIAN...GULFPORT...BILOXI...GULF HILLS...ST. MARTIN...         
  DIBERVILLE AND PICAYUNE.

ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH 
815 PM THIS EVENING OVER THE WARNED AREA.

HEAVY RAIN EARLIER TODAY HAS CAUSED FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND 
STREAMS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES...AS WELL AS OTHER POUR 
DRAINAGE AND LOW LYING AREAS...AND THESE AREAS WILL BE SLOW TO DRAIN 
INTO THE EARLY EVENING HOURS.

RESIDENTS IN THE WARNED AREA SHOULD BE AWARE OF WIDESPREAD FLOODING 
AND NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS WATERS OF UNKNOWN DEPTH BY FOOT OR BY 
AUTOMOBILE. REMEMBER...IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF SWIFTLY FLOWING 
WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
