Overview

A strong storm system across southern Canada was responsible for very strong winds across the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley on Wednesday, March 8th. Numerous reports of 50 to 65 mph wind gusts were received across much of southern lower Michigan, northeast Indiana, and northwest Ohio. These strong winds lasted for approximately an 8 hour period from 10 am Wednesday morning to 6 pm Wednesday evening before diminishing. The combination of the strength and duration of these strong winds resulted in several reports of tree and power line damage across the region. Additional impacts from the high winds included instances of semi roll overs, and structural damage to a commercial building in Napoleon, OH and a school in Fort Wayne, IN.
